TurnAround Schools Conference

Eight teachers, Mr. Romero, and I just completed the TurnAround Schools Institute in Indian Wells, CA. We were able to gain many additional tools and resources that we can begin implementing tomorrow that supports No Excuses University at Liberty. I specifically enjoyed the session entitled Promoting a Climate of Success by Fran Hjalmerson, school counselor at No Excuses University at Los Pen. She confirmed our vision to promote a climate that builds positive character and decision making vs. punishing students with meaningless consequences. We will implement a school wide behavior management plan that support character building through six character traits--responsibility, caring, fairness, trustworthiness, respect, and citizenship. The teachers that attended the institute left excited about continuing our endeavor as No Excuses University at Liberty. We will continue to make the necessary changes to become a school that meets the needs of all of our students.
