First Two Days

Well, we have had a fantastic start of a new school year. I was so happy to see all of the students coming through the gates on Monday morning. It is quite amazing to see how much many of our students have grown during the summer. Some have grown at least two inches!

Students are still getting used to some of the changes in procedures, especially before school and during lunch. Every class has a designated line on the playground or quad area in which they line up at the freeze bell that rings at 8:25. We are doing the Pledge of Allegiance outside as a school from 8:25-8:30, teachers come out to join students and parents, and teachers walk students to classrooms to begin instruction promptly at 8:35. This morning was the first day of this, and I left the playground with a wonderful sense of community to start the day.

During lunchtime, students play for twenty minutes then come to the cafeteria to eat. We have found this very beneficial for the transition back into the classroom.

I couldn't ask for a better start to the school year. Thank you to everyone.
